Real or Costume Jewelry for the Big Day? |
On our wedding day, my husband gave me a white gold chain with a diamond
pendant made from a tie pin that had belonged to his grandfather. It was
such a sweet romantic gesture, and quite a relief since I had not given
much thought to earrings and necklace for the big day.
Many brides debate between buying or borrowing fine jewelry for their
wedding day versus costume pieces which might not make it past the first
anniversary. While the appeal of buying and wearing jewelry which can
be passed down to future generations and to impart on them the special
significance of being worn on the big day needs to be balanced with the
constraints of the wedding budget.
Luckily, you can find a huge selection of fine and semiprecious jewelry at Blue Nile
which is perfect for the big day. Including a wide selection of affordable pearl bracelets
which are many bride’s top pick. Whether you buy it for yourself, or
start heavily hinting for it far in advance. So get your Pinterest
boards ready. Here are my top picks for your big day!

Splurge! A Wedding Day Tennis Bracelet |
The one piece of jewelry I did buy for my wedding day was a diamond tennis bracelet. A total splurge, but here was my reasoning. This was the last time I would be able to spend my money however I wanted to without having to account for it to anyone but myself. So I did. And while that bracelet has the special significance of being worn on my wedding day, for me it is more than that. It’s a memento of the kick-ass financially independent woman I was before my wedding day, and a reminder to always stay that way. But hey, if he wants to buy it for you, that’s ok too!
